Onam

Onam (ഓണം - written in Malayalam) is a 10-day harvest festival celebrated by the people of Kerala, India - aka my people. Wikipedia's article on Onam pretty much covers everything I wanted to iterate - the significance, the rituals, the legend, activities, etc!

One of the fun activity during this festival is to create flower circle - called Pooklam (ഓണപ്പൂക്കളം)

One of my favorite part of Onam is the food which is rice + at least 5 - 7 dishes served on banana leaf on the last day of festivities:

This is also a festival of music, dance and games. Tug-of-war is one of the most popular game played... which I got a chance to play this Saturday, and my team won!
